Margaret’s Awesome Cranberry Sauce

It’s an understatement to say that our co-founder, Margaret Isely, loved the holidays. I mean she really loved the holidays and all the prepping, cooking, and feasting with friends and family. She was known for all her homemade specialties—lots of delicious veggie dishes (we hope we’ve done her proud), homemade wine, homemade applesauce and, most notably, her homemade cranberry sauce. This simple, yet signature, recipe was something the Isely family looked forward to holiday after Thanksgiving holiday. It was the perfect accompaniment to the holiday meal and it was simply, Margaret. We are excited to share this family recipe with you and maybe even inspire a new family tradition of your own. Margaret’s Awesome Cranberry Sauce is just that awesome.

1 cup cranberries
1⁄2 cup pineapple chunks
1⁄3 cup water
1 peeled orange
1⁄4 cup maple syrup, or more to taste
  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and process until combined, but still a bit chunky.
  2. Pour into a small sauce pan and heat to a simmer over medium heat. Simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until it becomes slightly syrupy.
  3. Store in a covered glass container in the refrigerator.

Tip: Canned pineapple will be a bit sweeter than fresh, so you may decrease the quantity used.

Cranberry horseradish sauce:

  1. Add ¼ teaspoon Bubbies® prepared horseradish for
    every 1 tablespoon cranberry sauce.
  2. Mix well and use as a topping on leftover turkey, ham,
    roast beef sandwiches or wraps.
