Here’s what else hasn’t changed—our Five Founding Principles. Quality. Always Affordable Pricing. Nutrition Education. Community. Crew. These core values keep us true to our “true North,” no matter the roller coaster of conflicting opinions about what is healthy or not, here-to-stay or just a fleeting trend. They guided our parents when they started this company with a few hundred borrowed dollars and a dream. And although their reach has expanded and their definitions have evolved, these principles still hold us accountable to our reason for being. The essence is this: the best and worst outcomes for the health of our planet, our families, and our communities are inherently connected. Always. Period.

So, as we celebrate our 69^th Anniversary, we’d like to remember the person who first instilled in us the tenacity to remain true to our Founding Principles. Here’s to Margaret, our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, by birth and marriage, whose wisdom, integrity, and compassion were wrapped in her bright red lip-sticked smile, warm hug, and hearty laugh. We celebrate our birthday as a company this month because it’s the month of your birth. And you’re the one who first taught us to celebrate everyone on the day of their birth and thank them for sharing their gifts with us.
